Aaron Gray

Aaron is an analyst of elite politics and social dynamics in contemporary China, with over 20 years of experience watching and writing about the country. For the past decade he has provided analysis and expertise on China’s political institutions, leadership strategy, internal stability, security and intelligence forces, social protests, and propaganda system for government and private sector customers. Mr. Gray formerly served as a political analyst for the Office of East Asia and Pacific Analysis at the Central Intelligence Agency and as lead researcher for a non-profit organization monitoring Beijing’s activities on China’s western border. He recently contributed several chapters for a book length study on Politburo decision-making, including a detailed analysis of information flow inside the Chinese Communist Party bureaucracy. Mr. Gray holds an MA in International Studies with a China Studies focus from the University of Washington and is a graduate of the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies.
