Fortune 500 Insurance Company Regional Office

The regional office of a large property & casualty insurance company was about to be closed due to insufficient productivity. Despite impending job loss, employees performed at a fraction of reasonable capacity; some employees overtly cheated the system, and others weren’t far behind.

The regional vice-president asked ELG to conduct an assessment and recommend improvements. ELG found that feedback and accountability systems actually encouraged shirking and put individuals out of touch with their own productivity. Working closely with the regional vice-president, ELG installed individual feedback and personal accountability mechanisms. These steps increased productivity by 119% in six weeks. Within a few months, the increase was over 200%. Morale was reported to improve sharply, as well.
