Patrick Downes Ph.D.

Patrick Downes is an Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at the University of Kansas. He has earned international recognition for his teaching in leadership, human resource management, HR analytics, employee compensation, and statistical analysis. He earned his PhD from the University of Iowa.

Patrick’s award-winning research has appeared in the top academic journals in the field, including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Human Resource Management. His work sits across two areas: 1) how organizations can provide contexts that engage employees, and 2) how analytics can be used to better understand and manage people in organizations.

Patrick has engaged in consulting with organizations of all sizes across the retail, telecommunication, hospitality, start-up, and non-profit spaces. He has served on the executive leadership team for the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management, and currently serves as the President of the Kansas City Applied Psychology as well as on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
